For too long, the true impact of Fabry disease on female patients has been widely underestimated. Despite the emotional and physical burden they face, these women refuse to let Fabry XX them out of life.

Acceptance to advocacy.

Megan’s father had just passed away from Fabry disease and she was expecting her first child when she was officially diagnosed as a patient, not just a carrier. Her Fabry journey is one of grief and gratitude.

Knowledge is power.

Hearing she was a Fabry carrier gave Julia a fear of the unknown. Because whilst most men with the disease know the journey ahead, for women it’s a lot less clear. So, she’s helping other women living with Fabry focus on what they can control, not what they can’t.

Fabry in the family.

When Anna, her mother and brother were all diagnosed, it was a relief. Now as a mother herself, she sees the true impact Fabry can have on women and their families, and tries to balance how much she tells her children.

A sisterhood of support.

Growing up, the four sisters watched their father face the challenges of Fabry. Now living with the disease themselves, they must navigate raising children, marriage, career options, and being proactive in managing their health.
